Winter Breaks
Both holiday cottages are open all the year around so you can choose a time to suit you. The days when everything closed up at the end of the summer holidays until the following Easter are thankfully long gone, so this page is to give a taste of winter events in Cornwall. Whether it's bracing walks on windswept beaches or Christmas shopping in Truro, there's something for everyone so here are some suggestions.....
Mousehole Christmas Lights are a tradition that brings tourists and locals alike to the picturesque fishing village. Dates for 2023 switch on to be announced when available. Click the photo for more details.
The skating rink at the Eden Project opens at the autumn half term and usually remains open until the February half term. Click the photo link for details and to find out about forthcoming events at Eden this year.
Truro is a mecca for shopping all the year round, but it really comes into it's own at Christmas with Christmas markets, late night shopping events and the wonderful City of LIghts evening when the dark winter evening is turned into a magical myriad of lanterns and giant illuminated characters made by artists to reflect each year's theme. Click the picture to find out more about this unforgetable evening.
Penzance has it's Montol festival, (click the photo for details of events). This culminates in the Montol lantern procession where a band leads the river of lights lantern procession in Venetian-style masks and costumes to the lighting of a beacon to welcome back the sun.
Winters in Cornwall are generally milder than the rest of the country, however when big Atlantic storms roll in they can make for some dramatic photos (from a safe distance!). This was Porthleven harbour in early 2014.
